Hmm strange animal.. Can't find any specs on it. Is it a standard cd\dvd with cdrw capability?

OK I don't know what stores you have there in the UK but I will give you two sites so you can see what to look for.I would guess with your statement you have a IDE drive but The two pages below will have both IDE and SATA so be careful which one you look at.

Not that old, it's a standard IDE DVD Writer released in 2006.
One DVD Writer DVR-112: http://www.cdrinfo.c...ArticleId=20083
The D suffix simply means it's DVD-RAM compatible. The same model released in the US was the DVR-1810.
Anything here will do it, though good luck finding anything in Beige if that's what you want:
