i am not good at this, but for the bios settings, i just need to adjust the time and date? is there anything else i should adjust

Other then that just make sure your hard drive and cd\dvd drive are seen. If you have any problems or error messages feel free to post and we can help you with it.
Bios can be a scary place to be so if in doubt don't change anything till you ask. We will not think that you are strange because we are here to help. If you don't ask then we can't help you.

Be careful in removing the battery. It is held in by a little clip you have to depress.
Pay attention to the + (plus) and - (minus).
