Hi all

I have an HP Compaq Presario CQ70 laptop, but I am having trouble connecting to the internet. I can connect to my wireless router using either the wireless or plugging in an ethernet cable but I am only getting local access.

Things I have tried;

- Disabling the wireless router then re-enabling
- Turning off windows firewall
- Scanned for spyware and virus's (laptop is clean)
- netsh int ip reset in the run menu

My laptop used to connect to the internet but this is becoming rather frustrating!

Operating system is Vista SP1

I would be really grateful for any help

Kind regards

LB.

Is their any wireless security configured on the router, and if yes, have you entered it's password into the laptop's wireless settings?

What AV program do you use?
Did you try Safe Mode with Networking?
Can you "ping"?

Turns out Norton 360 was the problem. I uninstalled but there were still some files left behind so I used the Norton Removal tool. Halfway through the removal wizard I was connected to the internet again :)

Thanks for the help
