The program is funky and I need to uninstall it and reinstall.

However, when I try, it says to close Bridge and Adobe updater.

I do not have these programs open ( double checked with control/alt/delete). How can I close them in order to get rid of and put back CS4??

In 'Task Manager' check those two aren't running under the 'Processes' tab.

The check your 'Startup' programs as they could be in there.

To check what startup items you have and to disable them temporarily you can use the built-in 'System Configuration' tool:

1. Start >> Run
2. Type msconfig and click 'OK'
3. Click the 'Startup'
4. Untick an item to stop it loading with Windows.
5. Click 'OK'
6. Restart Windows and uninstall CS4
