Compatibility question regarding processor.

Hi I am going to upgrade my processor and was going to go with the E8400 as advised on an earlier thread I made but can afford to spend a bit more on a processor.I have seen one that has good reviews and was going to get it if it would be compatible with my current set-up.I want to get the ok for compatability from someone who is more experienced than me so I don't buy something incompatible(the sort of thing I would do!) :) this is my curret pc > Mainboard : Asus P5N-MX
Chipset : nVidia GeForce 7050
Processor : Intel Pentium E2180 @ 2000 MHz
Physical Memory : 4096 MB (2 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM )
