I thought this was Elitebar, but the removal instructions don't seem to apply. However, Adaware SE keeps finding a reg key for it. Tried Adaware SE, Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta and Spybot Search and Destroy and the popups just keep coming. Next attempt will be duct tape over a certain portion of the monitor to block the ads. :tazz:

Thanks in advance very much to anyone that contributes to helping me!

Here is the HJT log: (I've search the processes in it too, but must've missed the cause of my anxiety)

Hi JS. Welcome to GTG. ;) Sorry you were missed on the first go-round, but we'll get it done this time.

Since it's been so long, could you please run another log and post the contents in this thread? Thanks. :tazz:

I tried what you said. Perhaps because time had lapsed from when you answered and when I was able to visit the PC, some of your suggestions seemed not applicable. The PC is very bad with lots of popups.

Today we ran the following:

ADAWARE (full scan)
SPYBOT S&D
Cleanup
CWShredder
Symantec Norton Antivirus Corp Edition 10.0 (Full Scan in Safe Mode)

Then, I ran HJT and here is the latest log: (Thank you for your help!) I will be able to visit the PC tomorrow morning and hope you might have suggestions for me to implement then and report back on.

Thanks for your quick response and help. We ran the instructions you gave us, when we rebooted after safe mode, NAV10CE gave use an autoprotect error about WINTASK.EXE (SecurityRisk.Downldr -- http://securityrespo...k.downldr.html)

We immediately went back into safe mode and manually deleted that file. Here's the

Because we noticed references to Surfsidekick, we put a check in the following boxes:

We also deleted the entire C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick folder.

We did all of this in safe mode. Then we rebooted and ran HJT again. Here is the latest log:

OK. All the fixes cuased something bad to rear it's ugly head. Don't do any other fixing until you hear back from me. Just follow these instructions.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left. :tazz:

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
