Just started to have a problem with graphics not showing on some sites and also Sitemeter not appearing at all.

A few days ago I had a rootkit attack that thanks to others on here has now, hopefully, been cured. At around the same time Sitemeter (which I use for all of my own and clients websites) has also stopped appearing.

Usually there is a small icon on the page but this no longer shows and I can't get onto the Sitemeter homepage either. I can see them from my laptop and my mobile though so it points towards being a PC based fault.

On other sites images have also vanished yet others appear on the same page so that must be something to do with the type of graphics that they are. In the case of Sitemeter they are java based.

I have cleared out the java cache, run CCleaner, Malwarebytes etc but the problem is still there. It appeared suddenly and will not come back.

I'm including two images to help describe the problem. I cannot replicate the Sitemater problem but it's there (not there)

Sorted now thanks to a holiday forum.

It was the host file that I downloaded from a link on here. It's also useless in that it blocks hundreds of genuine sites.

Gone back to a plain vanilla host file and all is working again now.
