Is there a (legal) download of the installer CD available?

If you mean torrents, no.

After some time, I've finally found a disc. -_- Now this place is a bit more messy, but oh well...

Next problem, I keep getting a "Windows can not start because "ntoskrnl.exe" is either missing or corrupt. Re-install Windows." I installed it a second time and received the same error.

Using the Repair Guide didn't help either as the disc didn't see the Windows XP installation on the drive. How can I resolve this?

EDIT: Nvm, I hate it when I forget to search first. >_< Unless you have a different suggestion; I'll refer to this thread first thing tomorrow.

Alright, that method did not seem to work; I continue to receive this error. I also find that the drive letters are now "messed up". I believe the new drive is "D", but that was my original CD drive. Is there a method to check the drive letters available in BIOS/DOS to make using R-Con easier?

EDIT: Ah yes, I can't find the CD drive by letter. -_- THat would help. >_<

Are you trying to perform clean Windows install?
Did you remove all partitions, create new one, format and so on?

On this "new" drive, yes. I've cleared partitions and installed XP twice; I'm still getting the ntoskrnl.exe problem. I found one other suggestion as to how to fix it by directly copying the file from the disc.

For that, I needed the letter of the CD drive which alludes me atm...

EDIT: Shoot, just found how using "MAP".

Using : expand i:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ d:\windows\system32

I get the error "Access is Denied".

I suspect either bad Windows CD, or some problem with "new" drive.

Hmm, my father mentioned that it was a "extra" drive from when he had a similar problem from long ago... he claimed it was a spare/extra that wasn't used...I'm suspecting otherwise... -_- I might just go buy a new one tomorrow...

Ah heck, I was inputting the command wrong... -_- It's expands successfully, but I get the error again.

Alright, obtained a new Hard Drive and have Windows installed.

My current issues/questions:

1. How can I change the drive letter of "System" and "Root" drives? Here's my original setup.

C: Old Main
G: "Secondary"
S: "Tertiary"

This is the setup currently:

C: "Secondary"
D: Old Main (Didn't change it yet to "O")
J: New Main
S: "Tertiary"

I want to change the drive letter's back to their original letters, but I can't change the "new main" and "Secondary" because Windows has "Sec" set to "System" (which it isn't) and "new main" to "Root" (which makes sense, but I need it to be "System").

2. Will previously installed programs simply "copy over" and work on the new drive (Once the letters are fixed) or will they have to be reinstalled?

3. If the CD Key on my computer does not register the computer (which has yet to see the internet), I assume I must call Windows myself? (Or, if I can get my wireless adapter to work, is there an alternative?)

4. Using a nVidia graphics card; my screen is too wide for my monitor atm by a bit on each side. I'm using the same res. from before the problem; is there any way to "compress" the screen a bit?

5. I accidentally obtained a "Home Edition" XP disc and my old key was for the "Professional Edition"; any suggests on how to fix that? -_-'

1. I don't think, it's possible, but also, it doesn't bother anything.
2. If you leave #1 alone, question #2 is irrelevant.
4. Do you have wallpaper set to "stretch"?

1. It just bothers me is all; it's fine.

2. But will there be some program errors when the drive letter's don't match for the "Secondary" drive's programs and those that I copy to the "New Name" drive "J" that were originally "C"?

4. It's not the wallpaper, it's the entire display. It get's cut off on either side...

2. Yes, because it's all written in registry.
4. Your screen is a wallpaper.
