win7 media center hdmi sound

I got a new computer with windows 7 media center to play back recorded TV. I hoooked up the HDMI to the TV but get no sound. The video card it the nvidia GT220 with HDMI output. When i test the speakers through the HDMI output i get the test sounds but trying to playback video i get nothing. I also have sound ran to the TV with red and white audio cabled from the computer to the tv and no sound there either but that might be a TV thing. Anyone got any idea as to get the HDMI sound to work when the test sounds do but nothing else??
