Swapping Out Mobo and Reformatting HDD

I need to swap out my motherboard and reformat my hard drive. If anyone can give me some basic info on putting in a new mobo(how to safely remove PCU, etc.) and a walk through on reformatting a hard drive, it be much appreciated.
