.NET Framework 1.1 quits--PLEASE HELP ME

OK, I posted this problem originally 3 weeks ago and still no help. Can someone PLEASE try to help me? This is driving me crazy! :)

.NET Framework 1.1 unexpectedly quits. I've tried all the fixes such as removing all traces of all versions of .NET Framework and then reinstalling the latest version first. (This old computer only has 1.1 and 2.0 installed.) I was finally able to install Service Pack 1 for version 1.1.

However, .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 still quits. And I can't use System Restore.

I'm running XP, Comodo, Firefox.

The "appcompat.txt" file created for this error is gibberish to me, but says something about kernel32.dll. Does this help?
