hp laptop problem

i have a hp pavilion dv6000 its about 3 years old and recently where the screen attaches on the left side partially came detached. it was not much of a problem until today when i noticed a burning plastic smell and immediately shut it down. now when i boot it there are horizontal blue lines and the screen blinks from black to four framed picture of my desktop. any suggestion besides scrapping it? thanks
