HP Compaq 8510p wont start

hey everyone, i have a HP Compaq 8510p , when i click the power button, the leds light up and the fan works and stuff, but nothing appears in the screen nor sounds comes out of the computer, please help

Your monitor may be going bad. Try connecting an external monitor.
