There is a problem in my comuter (or should i say one of my many problems :tazz: )
with the usb 2 ports..

Let me give you a background

Since my pc is old the usb was 1.1, so i bought a usb 2.0 pci card, but during the installation, there was an error with the drivers.. it said that i would have to upgrade my pc to xp sp1, which doesnt make sense since i have sp2.
Currently in Device Manager, usb controller has a question mark and
the status is:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

But the drivers of the cd that came with the pci card wont do.
someone told me that i should update my bios but i dont know how to update it since i dont have the motherboard cd

Board: MSI MS-6547 1.0
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 07.00T 10/12/01

Your board is MSI---so go to their web page and get the latest bios for your motherboard. Download it and flash per MSI's instructions. Once you have the bios updated, try the USB 2 install again.

If this is an off the shelf computer like Dell or Gateway, go to the manufacturers web page for the bios....

sounds to me like the card drivers are meant tfor sp1 and you have sp2...i am a little confused as to what it is saying with the os tho.
a question too, how do you flash bios and what does it do (or is it automatic)

which one do you think that i should choose?
I may have to try downloading Bios update based on my old Bios (American Megatrends Inc. 07.00T 10/12/01)

is sp2 usually a cause of such problems or just in my case?

i downloaded it, but i am a little worried that i wont use it correctly

the instructions are.....fearsome :tazz:

"Micro-Star assumes no responsibility for any damages resulting from improper use or lack of technical expertise."

Is there any REAL danger?
Something that i should be aware of while doing this?
Worst case scenario?

lol-everything says that because some idiots go into the exe and change the code. if you arn't planning on hjacking, using an os other than what they say, or smashing your computer with a hammer while its downloading-there is no danger.
