I have to push esc to get the desktop to load after the hard drive has been restarted. the screen will stay black till i con+alt+del. then the desktop background will show up but i have to press esc to get the icons to show up. i ran a scan and had 4 backdoor.trojans but those were already in quarantine. could these still be effecting the startup?

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post an OTListIt log in THAT forum.
