Unknown Infection I am unable to access any antivirus website

I am unable to access the Microsoft website or any other antivirus websites as when I try to do so, I get "The page cannot be displayed" screen. I have avg installed which has put up numerous threats. I also have Malwarebytes installed but wont update. Please advise if there is anything i can do about this.
