Unwanted Desktop Icons

A few days ago, desktop icons appeared on the top of my desktop. My personal icons are still on the left side of the desktop. The icons across the top are Contacts, Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Favorites, and Music. When I attempt to erase these by right clicking and then delete, it effects my whole screen. For example when I delete desktop, it erases all my desktop icons. How do I get rid of these icons?
