This could be a ide drive because the op stated "old desktop"seagate barracuda ultra ata
Can you get the model number of the drive so we can be sure to recommend the correct interface.

That is a ide drive and not a SATA drive.
What you want is a USB enclosure that will accept a ide/pata drive. As long as it says ide on it (and 3.5 inch)you are good.
