IE 8 will not install in Vista

I have a compaq presario CQ60 laptop running Vista Home Premium SP2. I tried to upgrade from IE7 to IE8. When I attempted I received an error message stating that IE8 will not work on current OS. Does anyone know why?

Oh bummer.. no Internet Explorer..

Ever used Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome? In my personal experience, Internet Explorer is not only a terrible browser, but a security risk. Either way..

Have you tried completely uninstalling Internet Explorer, and reinstalling it? LINK

Is your computer fully up-to-date? Start > Control Panel > Security > Check for Updates
