Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I've noticed that when I watch videos (namely Youtube and Hulu), they get really choppy and lag every 3-5 seconds. When I look at my CPU usage, it's near 100% everytime I watch videos (even simple youtube videos). I have 2GB of RAM on my computer so I'm not sure what's wrong.

I've tried watching the videos on other browsers (IE and Chrome) and the problem still persists. I don't think it's the internet connection because other computers on my network are able to run videos fine.

Laptop, or desktop?

Download, and install SpeedFan: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
Post your computer temperatures:

Provide processor info (hold Windows logo key, and hit Pause/Break key to find out).

Post two sets of numbers, one, when computer idle, another one, when watching any video.

Laptop

Processor info: VAIO Computer Intel® Pentium® M processor 1.73 GHz

Idle:
HD0: 35C
Temp1: 37C

Watching videos: same

What I did notice is that the CPU usage jumps from ~10-15% when I'm not doing anything to 99-100% when I'm watching videos.

I just tried watching hulu last night and it is extremely laggy, even when it's on the small screen. Do you think it could be spyware?

Download Process Explorer: http://technet.micro...s/bb896653.aspx
Unzip ProcessExplorer.zip, and double click on procexp.exe to run the program.
Click on View > Select Colunms.
In addition to already pre-selected options, make sure, the Command Line is selected, and press OK.
Go File>Save As, and save the report as Procexp.txt.
Attach the file to your next reply.

Run Process Explorer while watching some video.

Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista), type in:
msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).

Click on Startup tab.
Click Disable all
IMPORTANT! In case of laptop, make sure, you do NOT disable any keyboard, or touchpad entries.

Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
Click Disable all.

Click OK.
Restart computer in Normal Mode.

NOTE. If you use different firewall, than Windows firewall, turn Windows firewall on, just for this test, since your regular firewall won't be running.
If you use Windows firewall, you're fine.

Same problem?

I'm on a laptop. I've identified "apoint.exe" as the trackpad program. Which ones are the keyboard programs?

All videos run smoothly now! Though my CPU usage is still near 100% when I watch youtube videos. Should I just keep all these processes turned off?

Very good :)
Just take it easy. One step at a time.
Post another PE log while watching videos.
