I am curious to know if you can delete the ie7 and ie7-updates folders once you have IE8 installed. I don't plan to uninstall anything and you can't uninstall IE8 anyway. I am just curious if deleting these two folders which have a lot of MB in them will mess up the computer or mess up the operation of IE8.

Why do they remain on the computer anyway? Do they have any type of importance to the correct function of the computer or of IE8?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

The IE7 folders are there in case you want to uninstall IE8. Contrary to what you say, IE8 can be uninstalled, it should be listed in 'Add/Remove Programs' as "Windows Internet Explorer 8" but first you have to enable "Show Updates" with the tick-box at the top, otherwise you won't see it. When you uninstall it, the system automatically reverts to the version that existed before the update (IE7 in your case).

I recommend you leave the IE7 folders alone even if you intend to keep IE8. Internet Explorer is tightly integrated with the operating system and you meddle with it at your peril!

I actually went ahead and deleted both folders without any negative effects. I don't plan on uninstalling IE8. Thank you anyway! Got rid of 200MB. IE8 works just fine.

Thank you for your assistance!
