I have a Acer Aspire 3000 Laptop computer. Slowly different things have stopped working such as dvd/cd drive,(It does work but the computer don't reconize it) wireless networking,It started working slow and locking up. So I decided to install windows xp pro, which I loaded off an external hard drive, since the dvd/cd don't work. It was almost finished loading, the system rebooted itself and now it won't start, it just keeps rebooting. I can't get into safe mode or any other functions on the f8 page. Can anyone help me get this thing running again!

Did you do a Clean Install Of Windows XP Pro
Or a Repair install?

Also will you be purchasing an external CD/DVD Drive, or are you not going to worry about this?

I thought so

Try a clean install
Note: Some clean installs also require the hard drive controller (its the F6 prompt that's also in the guide)
You will (possibly) need this driver available first (I was about to say on CD :) ! )
It can be downloaded from... Hmm, I just checked HERE yours may not need it.
