I recently purchased a new computer running Windows 7 Professional. On occasion while during a sleep mode it will shut down. I checked in the Event Viewer and found a number of critical errors all pertaining to the Event ID 41 Kernel-Power. I've attached a screen shot for your review. I've confirmed that I have the latest video and sound drivers.

Checking you have the latest video drivers may not be enough. Do the same with other motherboard-related drivers too.

If desktop, disable all power saving features.

There is a lot of power options in Windows 7.
Make sure, they're all off.

Control Panel>Power options>Change plan settings>Change advanced power settings

If so, how come?

On occasion while during a sleep mode

How do you put it into sleep mode, if sleep mode is off?

I see. So, run it for a while now and see, if any problems will arise.
