So one of our computers at work has not worked right in ages. They were gonna throw it away but i took it to try and fix it. Initial problem was that it was full of viruses and malware which i removed by doing what was said on the forum here. Now the computer is really slow to start up. And when i first turn it on i get this message:

Dell system dimension 8100

memory address line failure at 0865E2A8, read 9A9E9A9A, expecting 9A9A9A9A
decreasing available memory
the amount system memory has changed
strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utility

when i press F1 it goes to xp screen and boots up fine. It is just really slow to load desktop and slow to get online. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi lcbjr1979 and welcome.

Even though you cleaned out the malware, some of it can be really deep rooted.

I suggest you go to the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the requested logs in THAT forum. If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Continuing forward without a clean bill of health can (and will) affect how the repair of other issues will be done.
