Hi,

I've been going crazy for a few days wondering what is going on with my computer. The CD Rom and DVD Rom are not working at all. I inserted a computer disc and nothing happened. I went to the device manager and it says Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41). Both devices are installed and they were working two weeks ago. That's about the last time I used them. I ran a virus scan and it came back clean. Please, let me know your opinion I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your time. :tazz:

Thanks for a quick response Rick.

I replaced the ide cables and checked if anything was disconnected. Everything is properly connected but I'm still have the same problem with the new ide cables. It has to be something else.

Also while in device manager run the trouble shooter under the general tab

Here is MS explination of error codes and how to fix, scroll down to code 41

If no go then google "microsoft error code 41" lots of info there.

No there's nothing in the device manager that has a red marking or an exclamation mark. I'll go ahead and check out googles,
Thanks
