Word Perfect 5.1 DOS question

I asked this question before and got a great response. But recently it stopped working correctly. My problem is that when I save a small file, it becomes 4.5MB. The solution was to save it as a 4.2 file, open it up and then save it as a 5.1 and it then had a very small amount of disk space.

But recently that trick stopped working. Every file becomes 4.5 MB and I can't change it. I did a defrag today and that didn't fix it. I have XP.
