I would like to install a new hard drive, I've started the process and, everything works so far . . . . . but I can't connect to the Internet. I know need the Network Adapter, but how can I install an adapter from the internet when I can't even log on. I connect through a Starband Skyedge Modem. I am a computer illiterate. Please help. :)

You are connected since you started this topic. :)
How did installing a new hd not make your internet not work unless you replaced the main drive.
Was there a problem with the original drive?
We can help but need to know some system specs.
Is this a name brand system and if so what is the make and model number?
If custom built what motherboard make and model?
Is internet network connection built onboard or is it a add on card?

Did you install the hard drive as the main drive in the computer? and then install a OS on it?

Did you use a full install CD or a recovery CD.

I installed the OS from disks that came with the computer. I am thinking I need to install a Network Adapter, but am unable to without being able to log onto the Internet with that computer. Is there another way?

This would help for us to find the original drivers for the system.
If it is a custom built then we need to know the motherboard make and model.
If the network card is a add on card then we need to know what the make and model of it is.
