Hey guys,

I bought computer parts from Newegg a couple of months ago and put it all together. It's been working fine with Windows 7 for a couple of months, but last week it started freezing up frequently. It will work for a few minutes perfectly and then it will get the spinning circle and say "not responding" in most of the windows. Then instantly, everything will work again for another few minutes, then it will all freeze up again. I have not added any new hardware since I first put it together.

Here is what I have:
GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2 LGA 1156 Intel P55 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80605I5750
RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Modular LED Power Supply
Western Digital Caviar Green WD15EADS 1.5TB SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
ASUS EAH4890/HTDI/1GD5 Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMX4GX3M2A1600C9
LG DVD Burner Black SATA Model GH22NS50
RAIDMAX Quantum ATX-798WB Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

These are the things that I've tried and the same issue still occured:
Resinstalled Windows 7
Formated the hard drive, then installed Windows 7
Tried different RAM
Tried a different Video Card
Took out all PCI cards
Tried a new hard drive
Tried a new motherboard
Tried a full version of Windows 7 instead of just the upgrade
Tried a new power supply

I'm frustrated that I just put this thing together a couple of months ago and it's doing this. It makes the computer almost unusable. It's taken nearly 15 minutes to write this post.

Thank you for any advice you can give!

UPDATE: after a couple weeks with this problem it seems even worse. It now takes forever to load windows. It is difficult to even get to the desktop and then it will only work for a few seconds until everything stops responding.

Soulreaver156,

Have you run chkdsk to ensure that your hard drive does not contain any bad sectors? Also, what AV are you currently running? Have you scanned your computer for any malicious software?

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://social.techne...tegory/w7itpro/ . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to also check the threads available there for additional assistance and guidance.
