I am having problems with windows XP shutting down my computer all of a sudden all on its own. This has happened 4 times so far throughout the past week, and it has not happened before that. The first time it did this, it could not boot up 2 of my hard drives as well, but when i restarted again for the third time, all my hard drives were back again magically.

After windows shuts down my computer when im right in the middle of doing something, when I boot it back up I get this error report:

The system has recovered from a serious error.

A log of this error has been created.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Microsoft Windows. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous.

To see what this data report contains, click here

and when i click there it says:

Error signature
BCCode : c5 BCP1 : 00000000 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000001
BCP4 : 80533F7B OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 1_0 Product : 768_1

and then goes into the details on all the rights they have to collect all the information and files on my comp, web pages i have visited, they have the right to sell information about me to 3rd party groups, etc, etc if send the error report. It also says that it will include the file:

C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini051905-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\matt\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml

in the error report.

EDIT: Here are screenshots of it happening again:

That sounds verrrrrrry suspicious...i doubt microsoft has anything to do with that message...probably some third-stringer ad-ware site trying to get you to install some of its BS into your system...my advice, ignore it...try disableing your MESSENGER service...located in start menu, settings, control panel, settings...etc.

its not from the messenger service, I have it disabled.

Its the same box you get when a program on your computer freezes and you kill it in the taskbar, telling you that the program refused to respond, etc... and has the options to send or not send the error report to microsoft in the bottm right of the box.

If it happens again i will post a screenshot, i should have remembered to this time :tazz:

yes i have ran both adaware and spybot. adaware happened to crash while i was running them again just to be sure, and i got a screenshot of the "box" that I'm talking about. It looks the same as this one, but instead of the nonrespnding stuff at the start, it has the "serious error" stuff instead that I posted above. Also said "Microsoft Windows" in the title bar, instead of "Ad-aware" in this one.

I suspect you still have some malware to clean up. Follow the malware removal guide at the top of this forum where it says "Do you suspect a malware (Spyware, Virus, Trojan) infection? Please start here. " This enables folks to solve most problems on their own. If you still have a problem after that, post a hijack this log in the malware forum at

ok... i do not (more than probably) have a malware problem, I already went through a whole virus removal/ malware cleanup with greyknight17 just a few weeks ago, and I have barely used my computer since. I have ran spybot and adaware, and my hijack log looks the same as it did before when it was said that it was "clean" last time.

My comp shut itself down again.. and this time i got a screenshot of the error report. Here you go:

When I click on the "to see our data collection policy" link... it brings me to this site which explains all the stuff they will collect on peoples computers http://oca.microsoft.com/EN/dcp20.asp
