Laptop 1: Gateway MX6436 (Working screen)
Laptop 2: Gateway M465-E (No screen, No operating system, No drivers...basically a clean slate w/ nothing on it) The motherboard works. I bought a new hard drive for it, but that too is blank, I've done nothing to it so far.

I want to hook the two together in order to transfer information from the MX6436 to the M465-E. Is there a way to accomplish this?

As far as connected the two together that is not possible. But do you mean use parts from one another to get 1 fully functioning laptop?

If so, I need more details about the one with the working screen. Or, both really. As long as you have atleast 1 good functioning part for each component, you can combine the two to make one. However, the one with the working screen must have the motherboard working as well, or the working screen must be able to mount to the one with the working motherboard, See? The motherboard probably won't swap from one to the other. Haven't looked at pictures of them yet though.

EDIT: And you'll need the windows disc, and a product key usually located on the COA on the bottom of the laptop. The disc much match the product key. i.e. Windows XP Home disc, so need a Windows XP Home product key.

I just noticed you are wanting to transfer information from one to the other. Sorry, my mistake. Something Like this should work. You'll need to take the hard drive out and hook it to the working laptop with this device.
