going crazy trying to remove symantic av

ok here goes nothing lol I have been trying to remove symantic av for some time so I can install system mechanic pro which I purchased and have not been able to do so I tried the software remove route and it needs an msi file which I do not have I tried the norton removal tool but it says I need to first use the software removal tool in xp which as I said doesn't work I tried the ms install cleanup utility and now no longer have the symantic listed in the software removal list can anyone help me please

try this

Download and install Revo Uninstaller
  • Double click the Revo Uninstaller icon on your desktop to start the program
  • Scroll through the listed programs and Right Click on the program you wish to uninstall
  • From the pop out menu choose Uninstall
  • Click Yes to the confirmation dialogue
  • In the next window select the Advanced mode
  • Click Next to start uninstalling the program
  • Answer Yes to confirm the uninstall
  • When the program has completed the four steps, click Next to allow the program to search for leftovers
  • Once complete, click Next, then Finish
  • Repeat the above steps for any other programs you wish to remove.

yes I have it says I have to uninstall it first with the windows add/remove option

I think you should head over to the Virus Removal forum, there we can remove the program manually.

thank you for your help and I have decided to go a different route I called symantec and they uninstalled it for me so you are wlcome to close this topic and thank you again
