I do not have access to my daughter's PC, but she rang me to say that a friend had used a floppy to write a word document on my daughter's PC. Aftrewards my daughter has found that her 8 page essay in Word now only appears as question marks when she opens it. I assume it may have somehow been converted in the saving process used by the other girl for her document, but i wondered whether this may also be a symptom of virus activity. Can anyone advise and offer a solution please.

Potentially. Yes. Was the floppy drive scanned for viruses before being inserted?

Was there any mis matches with the version of Word? i.e using an older version etc?
