Hi Friends,
I installed new C drive in desktop PC, but will not boot the upgrade version of Vista Ultimate. Do I have to install XP first, or is there a way for Vista upgrade to install by "seeing" XP CD in another drive?

Thanks,
James

artm12-

Upgrade versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7 will only install if there is a valid, authenticated installation of a previous version of Windows on the drive.

In your situation, how did you go about installing Vista Ultimate on the hard drive? Was there a previous version of Windows, or was the drive blank?
