First of all I am less then a novice with computers just so everyone knows. With knowing that I hope that there is someone that can help me with this issue.

I am the single user on this Vista PC and my user is the administrator. When I purchased this machine it was set up by the Geek Squad at Best Buy that way.
A year and half later I have finally noticed that I am not permitted to save certain program files in the folder

C:\Program Files

A pop up says that I do not have permission to save in this location and would I like to save in

C:\Users\Tim

Now that I have others using this PC, I would like some items on here secure and to have some programs available for use by others in my house hold.

Would someone please be so kind assist me with this.

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to accomplish.

If you would like to limit access to certain files, you can password protect your user account and save those files in that user account location. Other logged-in users will not be able to access those files.

To publicly share files, you can save them in the Shared folder (I believe it's called the Public folder in Vista).

The program files folder is shared, but has limited access. Every user should be able to access the installed programs on the computer (depending on how you installed the programs- some installations allow you install programs for certain users only or the whole system).
