TV turns off after connecting to computer with DVI cable

I tried connecting my TV to my PC (Windows XP) to watch a streaming movie on my TV screen, but after I connected them and switched the "source" of the TV to "PC," the TV turned off after a few seconds. When I turned it back on, it turned itself off again. I have done this connection many times before without any problems, so I'm not sure what it could be. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
