My computer is really old and I can't afford to buy a new one.. My XP was allright although it rarely had any problems or anything now suddenly AFTER installing Microsoft security essential started to mess around and frequently stopped responding.. I uninstalled it and reinstalled my old antivirus Avast free antivirus (The reason for my uninstalling is cause it was annoying with its pop-ups of database updating..So i installed a MICROSOFT antivirus program.)..The problem of frequent not responding issue didn't get fixed.. I did a throughout virus check on the computer, but it didn't find anything threatening... Now my computer can only be run in safe mode (Cause if i try to run ANY gaming application or try to do things in internet for a while..Than the cpu just stops responding and i have to restart..And the problems just won't go away.)..I can't even reinstall my XP cause i lost my friggin XP cd and serial key... I would really appreciate some help with this problem... Cause only running the cpu in safe mode to be able to use the Computer is just...
And I say it again, Please help me. :)
I don't have any money to buy a new OS...Cause i barely earn enough money to feed and house myself... -.-

First Avast updating twice a day is annoying? This is something you should be happy about as it means the AV is up to date as fast as possible.
Second Microsoft Security Essentials as you put it.

FTER installing Microsoft security essential started to mess around and frequently stopped responding

This has somehow altered something with your system,
Third since you say the system is physically stopped responding then it should have created a log of the event.
Third lets see what we c an find. Please do the following:

  • Please download the Event Viewer Tool by Vino Rosso VEW and save it to your Desktop:
  • Double-click VEW.exe
  • Under 'Select log to query', select (as appropriate):
    • Application
    • System
  • Under 'Select type to list', select (as appropriate):
    • Error
    • Information
    • Warning
Then use the 'Date of events' or 'Number of events' as follows:

Either:
  • Click the radio button for 'Number of events'
Type 3 in the 1 to 20 box (or any number from 1 to 20)
    Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

  • Click the radio button for 'Date of events'
In the From: boxes type today's date (presuming the crash happened today) 13 07 2009
In the To: boxes type today's date (presuming the crash happened today) 13 07 2009
    Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.
Please post the Output log in your next reply

Download WhoCrashed from the link in my signature below
This program checks for any drivers which may have been causing your computer to crash....

Click on the file you just downloaded and run it.
Put a tick in Accept then click on Next
Put a tick in the Don't create a start menu folder then click Next
Put a tick in Create a Desktop Icon then click on Install and make sure there is a tick in Launch Whocrashed before clicking Finish
Click Analyze
It will want to download the Debugger and install it Say Yes
WhoCrashed will create report but you have to scroll down to see it
Copy and paste it into your next reply

Download Speedfan (The download link is to the right), and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows.
The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
To make sure we are getting all the correct information it would help us if you were to attach a screenshot like the one below of your Speedfan results.

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard.
  • It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
  • Now go to Start and then to All Programs
  • Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
  • In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
  • Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
  • Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop
  • Attach it to your next reply

One crash due to Video Driver and the rest are due to OS.
I will wait for other logs and results before suggesting next steps

One crash due to Video Driver and the rest are due to OS.

Well actually the problem is that the program ''Whocrashed'' only analyzes the OLD crashes and doesn't find the newer ones..So those can't be the reasons for my current crashes..
VEW has a error that it can't use russian (So it can't show me the results) even though im NOT EVEN RUSSIAN..
The last program u suggested only tells you the temperature and a few CPU specs so it won't tell me the reason for the crashes..

Those programs you suggested don't work the way they are supposed to or don't do the thing i need... I would appreciate if you could tell me how i can see the reasons for those more recent crashes.. :)

Please follow the steps below to enter the Event Viewer program in XP. This will give me more information into what is causing your issue.

Go to
Start and then click on Run
Type in eventvwr.msc and press Enter
On left side click on Applications On right side look for any RED X about the time of a incident
On left side click on System. On right side look for any Red X about the same time of a incident
Also look for any yellow exclamation mark at the same time in either of the above
If you find any double click on one at a time and take a screenshot.
To take a screenshot click on your Print Screen on your keyboard. It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
Now go to Start
All Programs
Accessories
Paint
In the empty white area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop

Include as a attachment in your next reply
If your attachment is to big to attach then go to Mediafire .
Register and upload your file.
Then reply with the link located to the right of your now uploaded file on Mediafire

As far as the programs not working they are used to show if anything they are suppose to check is the problem.
Whocrashed does do newer crashes if due to a driver problem. Since you have nothing newer then the crashes are not due to a driver.
Event Viewer I suggested normally works on a system unless it is Win 7.
Since it doesn't then we can use the one built into XP to check the same results.
Speedfan is used to check temps and for voltages with the PSU.
Since they don't work then we will have to use other steps to find the problem.

Download and install Free Everest Home Edition
Open it.
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Click the + by computer, click on Sensor. Get a screenshot and post it so I can check your temps and voltages...

DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING UNDER THE LINE THAT SAYS "DEBUG- PCI"

System Memory 512 MB

First issue is the above. Even though this may have worked in the past please understand as you add programs and your Autoruns increase the amount of available memory for the OS and programs to run will deplete. The normal suggested amount of memory for any system now running XP or newer is 1 gig of total memory. This decision is up to you but i would advise increasing your memory to this.
Go to HERE and run the Crucial online scanner.
This will give you the exact memory configuration for your system.
You do not have to buy the memory from there, but write down the information and if you need assistance in purchasing the upgrade memory GTG can assist with suggestions also.

The next issue I would like to look at is your Autoruns and see what is exactly running that you may not know of .
Download Autoruns from the link in my signature below:
1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
3: Click on the "Everything" tab
4: Remove any entries that mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry and select Delete.
5: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.
6: Save AutoRuns.txt file to known location like your Desktop.
7: Attach to your next reply.

Last but not least for sure i am researching the list you gave above to see what those files are that you mentioned.

ASPI32 is a file system file and may or may not be related to a infection
aswSP and aswTdi look to be part of Avast also
cdudf_xp is part of Roxio cd creator
Fips http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIPS_140
intelppm The process Processor Device Driver belongs to the software Microsoft Windows Operating System or Intel Processor Driver by Microsoft Corporation
MpFilter Microsoft Windows Malware protection system driver file.
SCDEmu is part of PowerIso

On the list there were quite many things i was doubting to delete, though they were ''File not found'' (Like explorer.exe and something...)..I emptied it...
The autorun textfile was sadly in some code or something so i can't post it.. -.-
Thanks for looking into it again!..

I have some new information...
After emptying the auto runs ''File not found-s'' I tried to run the CPU again in normal mode.. I tried to run a game application which like always stopped running and i got my most recent error with event viewer and it said the following..

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
Aavmker4
ASPI32
aswSP
aswTdi
cdudf_xp
Fips
intelppm
MpFilter
SCDEmu
sf

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft....link/events.asp.

Those are the same files it had errors with before... Even if i remember cleaning some of those with autorun...
I just checked the autorun program and those files were back which i deleted (So i deleted those again.. Don't know if they will reappear again when i restart.).. -.-

You did a great job of cleaning out the Autoruns on your own with getting rid of all the Not Found entries.
Your system is actually doing really good with Autoruns now.

Now can you tell me what game it is you are having problems with?
Is it a store bought game or a downloaded game?
Maybe a online game?
We still have other steps but I need to have all information to continue.
Is the system locking up only when trying to play the game?
How about when on the internet?
When not using internet or online how does the system run?
