im working on an HP laptop that will freeze minutes after booting up. The same thing happens in safe mode as well. Im trying to check for viruses and remove some potential unwanted programs as well as some start up programs. I've already taken the HDD out and scanned it using my desktop pc with Spyware Doctor and Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes found nothing, but Spyware doctor found a few issues and cleaned them. After that i put the HDD back in and it still freezes...what else can i do....Help plz!!!!

Welcome to Geeks to Go!, dinmak.

Connect the drive up to your desktop PC again and check it for file system errors:

1. Right-click the drive in 'My Computer'
2. Select 'Properties' from the context menu
3. Click the 'Tools' tab
4. Click 'Check Now'
5. Tick both tick-boxes
6. Click 'Start'

When it's finished it would also be a good idea to defragment the drive before putting it back into the laptop. This is also under the 'Tools' tab as explained above.

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Update:
OK, let me explain what happened when i first got the laptop. I was getting the BSOD. So i booted from Last KNown Goof Config and it booted to OS, except it froze. SO i began to notice that everytime i would hit the windows key and the letter R and try to type something, it would freeze. SO i checked device manager and there were two exclamation points by the keyboard and by Texas instrument PCIxx21/x515 Cardbus Controller. So i reinstalled all the drivers using the HP driver disc, and i rebooted and now im back to the BSOD. Hope this helps
