lately my computer has been slowing to a crawl. i ran malware scan and got the no malicious files found response. am i missing something? it is really slow and very annoying. could someone help me out please?

this morning(tues), i was working and my outlook,yahoo, and work screen all locked up and i could not exit any programs. tried to cancel out some of them with the task mgr, but that too froze. anyone know what might be my problem?
