I have been working with a Dell Otiplex GX270 PC and suddenly it will not boot up. When i press the start button, the pc will start the boot up process and once the Windows 2000 screen shows with the progress bar at the bottom of the screen, the pc stops there and will got load any further. I don't get any error messages or anything, but the pc will not boot.
The weird thing about it is the pc will boot successfully maybe one time out of ten tries.

What direction should I take to get this problem fixed?

when it does start successfully,

Note the time, reboot the computer

at start up...

start > run
eventvwr.msc
<enter>

Look under systems and applications for items with red Xs...list them here.

Also, start > run
cmd
<enter>
type
chkdsk /r

say yes, reboot

this will scan your disk
