With the new firmware upgrade to be set on April first we will no longer be able to use another Operating System for the Playstation 3. With this said, I'm trying to find ways in which to watch .avi videos via the PS3 Browser or to use an external hard drive/mp3 player that will allow me access to a browser which will have installed divx web player into it.

Whether it is DIVX web player doesn't truly matter as long as the browser and or the current operating system of the PS3 will be able to stream .avi.

Any ideas? I can currently watch flash thanks to the last upgrade of firmware from PS3 but unfortunately not every video stream is done in flash. Also flash doesn't seem to be able to incorporate HD sounds or HD pictures. I don't want to set up a WMP link from my desktop to my PS3. So please don't mention WMP 11 as a viable option. I also don't want to download .avi movies them burn them and then play them. Way too much time wasted/virus issues.

Thank you for all of the help and support with this topic. I tried using many backdoors but so far I have been unsuccessful at truly incorporating HD streams into HD pictures with the technology presented before me at this present time.

Also if anyone has an idea on how to access save files via the PS3 and open them that would probably solve this issue as attaching a web player to the browser would really improve this situation. Unfortunately, every time that I click download I am unsuccessful at opening a file location and accessing the file using the PS3 Hard drive.
