What disk are you trying to boot with?
What is the make and model of the system?
Have you changed the boot sequence in the bios so that the cdrom is the first boot device?
What error message are you getting if any?

OK well first of all the installed version and the version you are attempting to use are different so they will not work.
Second if you have XP Pro installed where is the disk for it?

If your system is a brand name is it a dell, compaq, hp, gateway?
Is there a sticker on the side of it with the original loaded OS?

OK then i would suspect it is a custom built system.
Now where did the XP Pro disk come from?

It isn't a custom system i know that for sure... it is over 10 years old has something like 256 mb RAM and a less than 1.6 GHZ processor.... it is ancient.... it came with the computer but i cant find it... you mean the one im using - home edition sp2?

OK what I'm trying to determine is if XP Pro is installed then there would be recovery disks for it.
You are attempting to use XP home edition disks so I'm trying to find out where they came from.
Apparently they are not what was used on the system so they must go to another system.
