Hi Runner,
Love the detail, thank you so much.

That is the file I downloaded so we're good there.
As I was responding to your post, my computer froze up again.
I had to manually shut it down. The good news: it did reboot without a problem.

OK ...onward....
you said: If you don't have a burning program that will burn .ISO files get burncdcc from my signature below ..a small FAST no frills iso burning program...

Clear enough but I didn't see a signature or a link ....
did I miss something?

I responded to this post already but I don't see it here.
I have to be quick because now the computer is just rebooting
without warning.

I do have the program you mentioned above. We're good to go there.

you said :::: If you don't have a burning program that will burn .ISO files get burncdcc from my signature below ..

Looks like I do need that program.
I didn't see a signature and I didn't see a link.
Did I miss something?

Ok .....
I ran the program and under
"Advanced", as you had instructed,
these are the choices .....
Set Capacity to 32Gb
Set Capacity Manually
Set Capacity to Max Native
Erase Track ZERO
Timed Erase
Full Erase
FDE Crypto Erase (this choice was not accessible)

I didn't know which choice so ...
I ran the basic rather than the advanced.
Computer rebooted just fine but I'm not really
sure if that is a 'cure'.

What now?
Thanks again

Again my computer has frozen.
I had to shut it down manually and reboot.
It did reboot without incident.

I do hope there is more we can do.

Happy Easter everyone and thank you so very much.
God Bless

Something else to try.
Go to
Start and then to Run
Type in Chkdsk /r Note the space between k and /
Click Enter ...It will probably ask if you want to do this on the next reboot...click Y
If the window doesn't shutdown on its own then reboot the system manually. On reboot the system will start the chkdsk operation
This one will take longer then chkdsk /f

Note... there are 5 stages...
It may appear to hang at a certain percent for a hour or more or even back up and go over the same area...this is normal...
DO NOT SHUT YOUR COMPUTER DOWN WHILE CHKDSK IS RUNNING OR YOU CAN HAVE SEVERE PROBLEMS
This can take several hours to complete.
When completed it will boot the system back into windows.

Let me know if this fixes the problem

Hi Runner,

I tried to thank you earlier for the suggestion, however, my computer locked up again and I had to reboot. I rebooted without incident and then ..........
...........I started the chkdsk /r about 2 1/2 hours ago
perhaps even a little more.
I know you cautioned that it may seem to stall, however,
It currently indicates the following:
Verifying indexes (stage 2 of 5)
85% completed.

Here's the thing ..........
it's been at 85% completed since about 10 minutes after I started it. Further, the indicator light on the tower (which shows the computer to be doing something <not the on/off indicator>) has not been showing any activity whatsoever.

Should I be concerned about this?

Thanx

Let it run as it is not uncommon for it to take several hours to complete. Depending on the capacity of the drive and the errors it finds and attempts to fix, it could take even longer.

Tech support please help .........

I was advised to run chkdsk /r and started it
this morning.

It's nearly 12 hours now and I'm still stuck at the
very same place I was stuck and noon (it's now nearly 10PM here)

I was cautioned not to shut it down during this process.

PLEASE ADVISE ! I can only assume it's frozen at the same
step 2 85% since this morning.

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO.

RS ........I'm not sure how this works but
PLEASE read my most recent posts.

I need help right now and can't get live support
(I don't know why it doesn't work)
I am not writing on my own computer as it is
frozen in the chkdsk /r process for the past 12 hours.
Please advise

I understand it looks like it is stuck and it may very well be.
The best thing to do is to let it run overnight. I know that seems a long time to sit and wait but there may be problems you are not seeing that it is fixing. If by morning it has not finished then we will continue on with more steps.
I am suggesting a HD diagnostics
Mem test
SFC scan for when 123Runner returns.

He may return before i get back in the morning. I am in Tn so I am a hour behind you. I normally am up early in the morning so i will message then. If Runner has not responded before then.
