Hi Jason and welcome to GTG.

First thing here, do NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS. It's VERY HARD TO READ and it's a FORM OF YELLING when used ONLINE. :tazz:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Download ETRemover and unzip it. Don't run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers.

Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for System Startup Service (SvcProc) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

c:\windows\system32\njqipm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jvialui.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ksuntvwr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\n.dll

C:\WINDOWS\VCMnet11.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Run ETRemover.exe now.

Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

Can you find a file called n.dll only? Just one letter filename called n with the dll extension? Leave everything else alone. If you can't find it, it must be gone.

OK, I think there may be other files that are hidden here. So run these programs now:

Download and install CleanUp http://cleanup.stevengould.org/
Download KillBox http://www.atribune....ads/KillBox.exe
Download rkfiles http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip and unzip the contents to a new folder on your desktop.

Download the remv3.zip at http://forums.skads....hp?showtopic=80 (look for the attachment posted in that second reply). Make a new folder on the root drive C:\ and unzip remv3.zip files into it.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.

Run CleanUp program now and logoff.

REBOOT TO SAFE MODE. These tools MUST be run in safe mode!
Once in safe mode, double click rkfiles.bat file to run it. It will scan for a while, so please be patient. Wait until the DOS window closes. Open the C:\log.txt it created and rename it log1.txt.

Now open the folder where you saved remv3.zip files and double click the rem.bat file and let it run. It will delete the files and remove the infection and then make a log of the files it finds. The log file will be C:\log.txt and bad1.txt

**Note** Each tool uses log.txt as it’s output file so make sure you save the entries from one tools log before running the other as it will overwrite the file if you don’t.

Reboot back to normal mode and post the contents of both the log.txt and log1.txt in your next post.

Were you able to do the remv3 part? Or are you having problems with the remv3 and CleanUp parts?

If it's just CleanUp, you may get it at http://www.greyknigh...spy/Cleanup.exe if the main link doesn't work.

Continue on with the steps.

Kind of new to this? :tazz:

OK, I will try to walk you through this. Do you know if you have a zip program like WinZip? You will need it to unzip that remv3 file. So get that remv3 file here. A download should start. Save it to your Desktop for now. Now go double click on that remv3.zip file. Your zip program should open. Look for the Unzip or Extract button. Click on it and then it should ask you where to extract it to. First, right click on your desktop and choose New->Folder. Give it any name, like remv3 fix. Now unzip that file into that folder on your desktop.

Boot into Safe Mode.

Go into that folder now and double click on remv3.bat to run it. Wait until that command prompt window closes.

Once that's done, just restart. Then go to My Computer-> C: drive and look for a file called log.txt. Post that log here.

For KillBox where did you save it? If you saved it somewhere else besides the desktop, you won't see it in the desktop. So if you want, save it straight to the desktop. Or make a folder for it.

If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Don't run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [C:\WINDOWS\VCMnet11.exe] C:\WINDOWS\VCMnet11.exe

Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into KillBox (hitting the X button for each file - choose NO when it asks if you want to reboot):

C:\WINDOWS\system\nlpqm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\VCMnet11.exe

Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

One more minor thing. Check and fix this one:

O4 - Global Startup: strings.exe

No need for a new log.

Your log is clean.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore.

Make sure to get the latest updates for Windows and Internet Explorer at http://v5.windowsupd...t.aspx?ln=en-us.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.
