My laptop can not access the internet or any program. The desktop is completely blank except for a wallpaper picture in the background. I can open Task Manager, but can't run any of the cleaners like ccleaner or superantispyware that I have on it. Any ideas what I can do? Much thanks, Leisa

I was able to restore to a previous date. Now I have the programs on my desktop, but now of them run. When I try to open a program, a black box comes up (looks like a command prompt box), and then it goes away and nothing happens.

Hi,

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Hi again,

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix tool:

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully first.

Please continue as follows:

  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link
    Remember to re-enable them afterwards.

  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New dds log.

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Hi,

I downloaded Combofix, but it will not run. As with all applications on my computer...nothing runs.

The only thing I can get on is the internet, and only with Internet Explorer, not with Firefox.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Leisa

Hi,

Please rename ComboFix.exe -> iEXPlorer.exe and try running it.

Did you remember to disable McAfee before running attempt?

Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)
Note: If the window shows a message that says Error deleting file, please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Try to run ComboFix after that (making sure McAfee and other protection software is disabled).
