Hyperlinks in Dreamweaver cs3 not working properly

I'm having the hardest time figuring out what the problem is with my navigation bar. I insert hyperlinks to the pages, then when I preview in a browser, the page comes up but the text colors are wrong and the pictures won't show up in IE, and in Firefox the page is plain dark blue, the text black, no banner except for the text and no indication of any pictures whatsoever. What on God's green earth did I do?
