Hello. I have an older emachines t5048 computer. The Internal DVD drive will not read discs anymore. I want to restore my os using the recovery disc thE computer came with. I have an external USB DVD-rom drive and was wondering if I could use to run the recovery disc. I'm not to smart when it comes to this sort of thing so any help would be appreciated.

I don't think that will work since you need to boot the PC using the recovery disc, and an old PC is unlikely to support booting from an external USB drive.

The broken internal DVD drive will have to be replaced.
