hi all,
i have a Sony laptop which is running windows7 and week back i bought Belkin G router F5D7234-4 V5 to get my other laptop which is also running on windows7 to get the internet wirelessly. My sony laptop is connected to internet through cable modem through wire before installing the router, My connection is perfectly fine and speed is good but every since i installed the router my internet connection been so slow and at times it won't display the page at all. it takes ages to download any pages. I talked with customer services people at the Belkin and they tweek few the security option. At first it seems it helped a little bit but somehow it kinda same. i have net connection with AOL roadrunner.
Can anyone suggest or help me out what could be the reason for my slow internet connection. Cuz i dont have any problem when its connected through wire..the problem seems only after connecting the router that both my seems to have awful internet connection.
thank you

Sometimes a slow speed with wireless connections is down to the router's wireless channel being set at too low a number. It needs to be in the range 8-11.

To get at the router's configuration settings, they are shown in any web-browser (use a wired connection if you intend to change any wireless settings). Type http://192.168.2.1 (do not use www) into the address bar of your browser. A belkin login page will appear. By default, belkin routers do not ship with a password so just click 'Submit' to continue.

Navigate to the wireless settings and, if necessary, change wireless channel to a higher number. Remember to save any changes. Any wireless device which uses the router will automatically detect a change of channel so no need to mess with them.

It is quite possible that your wireless router is defected and you might want a replacement for it.

Try tweaking your wireless channel to 1, 6, or 11 and compare if it solves the slow connection.
If your belkin router has "Adaptive Channel Expansion" option enabled, please try to disable it.
