Hi all,

the other week I was using my laptop and suddenly a load of purple lines appeared on the display. These are intermittently small and large and range from tiny threads to whole blocks of purple when the screen is moved. I plugged in the laptop to another monitor and the problem is still there leading me to believe it's an internal problem and nothing to do with the actual screen.

I downloaded and updated the graphics driver but no good! It's as bad as ever.

Here's the wee report from CPUID:

Graphics
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Number of adapters 1

Graphic APIs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

API ATI OD5
API ATI I/O

Display Adapters
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Display adapter 0
Manuf. API index 0
Display name \\.\DISPLAY1
Name ATI MOBILITY RADEON XPRESS 200
Memory size 256 MB
PCI device bus 1 (0x1), device 5 (0x5), function 0 (0x0)
Vendor ID 0x1002 (0x1631)
Model ID 0x5955 (0xC00E)
Performance Level 0

Can anyone suggest what else I can do to rectify this? It's a fairly old laptop (Packard Bell Easynote) but it works perfectly fine in every other area. It's driving me mental and I've got stuff I need to write, and these lines are giving me a headache!

thanks a million in advance
