When using xp pro disk SP3 as a boot disk to set up a new, unformatted disk, I cannot get past the "setup is starting windows" message. I have a 60 gb hard drive as the new one, upgraded from a 7 yr old 40 gb one. Unfortunately, the other hard drive died and I can not upgrade the bios because the hard drive is not formatted. I want to format it with NTFS. I think the larger hard drive is the issue.

The machine is an IBM A-31 laptop (7Yrs Old) that had a 40 gb installed. I have downloaded all the appropriate driver updates from the Lenovo site, but am now frozen as I cannot access my drive to do anything. I upgraded the memory to 1 GB from 256 K. The board does support it.

I'm stuck folks.

Thanks,

Joe
