My daughter installed some new software on our laptop and now when I go to boot it, it goes through the toshiba and windows screen, a blue screen and then takes me to a black screen with different boot options, all of which return me to the same black boot screen.

The blue screen says:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"

The there is a bunch of info about restarting the computer and uninstalling new hardware, followed by

"Techincal information:
***STOP: 0X000000ED (0x8A51C9F0,0x0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)"

I have tried to boot the the computer off of a Windows XP Pro installation disk but it just goes to the same boot screen.
I have tried to boot the computer off of the Toshiba OEM disk, it will boot, but it only gives me the option to restore my computer to how it was when it was new, deleting all of my old files.
I have also not been able to access the windows recovery console using the OEM or Windows XP Pro disk.
I have also used BurnCDCC to burn puppy_2.16_seamonkey_fulldrivers.iso to a cd and tried to boot off of the CD but I was returned to the same black boot screen.

The problem computer is a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4334 System Unit, with Windows XP Media Center Edition Operating System.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me retireve my pictures and documents of off my Toshiba laptop.

Thank you in advance for your help.

when the machine boots s the toshiba screen appears press and hold the F11 key this should take you to the recovery sector where youcna choose form either fulll format or jsut reload windows
if this does not work then its possible htat consideringhte error s you are getting inthe tech info section it may be a RAM issue and the mahcines RAM is bad in which case youll hav eot go buy more and it ha to be specific tothe motherboard
you can try to go intohte BUIS are aand see if there are tests for the hd and rnad ram
to neter bios onthat mahcien press nad hold f3 asit boots
good luck
